on  David Hockney: Photoshop is boring

I might have missed part of what was said.... but this is something I would like to add to the discussion.

I personally think there are two reasons photoshops tend to be boring (tend to be), one: the flow of the interface will lead people easier into certain directions than others and two: where there once were entire processes involved in coming to a final product, now the struggle is simplified into easy steps... in other words, I think it's a natural tendency for all of us to take the easier of routes....... but I  would like to point out to David Hockney(if he hasn't already done so himself) that the average product , be it graphic arts, painting, etc... has always been mundane... we look back and collect all the great pieces from the past century and think to ourselves.. "hey, art use to be so much better", but if we look at it from the year, the month and the day and see what the general offerings of art were at any given time... we'd see that it was always fairly mundane..... I guess it's like music... we always look at the great bands of the past, and forget about the drivel and the one hit wonders.. we always remember the Beatles but we forget about the Bobby Goldsboro's  and Mac Davis's... ... (sorry.. I wasn't a fan of either)
